About The Team

Zillow Canada is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Economist who has a passion for applying creative economic thinking to understanding housing trends, their impacts, and communicating them to a variety of partners to join our growing team. If you are curious and creative and have experience telling stories through data, we want to hear from you!

You will join a team that is at the centre of redefining the future of Canadian home search and selling. We are responsible for building Zillow’s search experience, the audience in Canada and defining itself as an authoritative source for Canadian Real Estate. We lean on Zillow’s vast resources in the US to operate in a scrappier, start-up environment that moves fast with exposure and access to Zillow’s executive team. About The Role

You will be responsible for handling Zillow’s communications strategy in Canada using your creativity, media relationships and experience in awareness-building campaigns. As the point person responsible for fielding media requests, working closely with our editorial team to develop content, and mining for data to help tell stories about the Canadian housing economy.

  • Utilize data to understand trends in housing market activity and surface novel and relevant insights for internal and external audiences.
  • Examine housing's unique position at the confluence of a number of broader economic and socioeconomic fields -- jobs markets, demographics, education, immigration etc -- and analyze how changes in one inspire changes in the others.
  • Apply housing data to evaluate and better understand public policy.
  • Communicate your analyses through stories, presentations, and interviews with print and broadcast media.
  • Build novel measurements or metrics to understand real estate trends regionally and/or over time.
  • Work with Zillow Canada’s content team to develop features for both consumer and industry audiences.
  • Use data visualization tools such as Tableau and D3.js to build charts and infographics for research reports and blog posts.
  • Compile metrics and draft analysis for Zillow Canada market reports.
