Backend Javascript Developer

A business technology client is looking for a Backend Javascript Developer to help design and build various backend systems and REST APIs. As the Backend Developer, your responsibility will include setting up the structure of databases, backend systems, and working with frontend developers to build performant applications.

This is a remote position and we welcome candidates from all locations. Resumes are to be submitted in English. We do not provide visa sponsorship at the moment.

Responsibilities

• Design and architecture of backend systems and database models.
• Writing test-driven, performant code.
• Integration of front-end systems, developed by frontend developers.
• Monitor, analyze, and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our backend systems.
• Integration of third-party systems, APIs, and monitoring tools.
• Aid in the deployment and autoscaling strategies.
• Managing automated testing platforms and writing unit, integration, and functional tests.
• Be involved and participate in the overall application lifecycle.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Node.js, Javascript frameworks (e.g. Express), and JavaScript.
• Experience with Typescript.
• Good understanding of server-side templating languages, frontend frameworks, fundamental design principles, HTML5, and CSS.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous Javascript.
• Understanding accessibility and security compliance.
• Experience with automated testing platforms.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools.
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
